A Student Startup Competition sponsored by the Platform of University Technological Entrepreneurship federal project in 2022 has been summed up. 1,000 students have been selected to get a grant worth of 1 million rubles each for their business projects’ development. Among the winners there are representatives of the FinU!

The federal project was developed and based on the similar-title strategic initiative, approved by Mikhail Mishoustin, Chairperson of the Government of the Russian Federation. The competition is carried out under the  patronage of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia and the Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation.

“According to the competition results, 1,000 of the most interesting and strong students’ projects were selected. Their implementation will contribute to fulfillment of the tasks set by the President to achieve technological sovereignty and ensure the country’s economic security. Each winner is allocated 1 million rubles to create their own high-tech digital, industrial, medical, resource-saving technologies. Some of the winners have already received funds and started working. Next year, it is planned to support 1.5 thousand startups, by 2030 their number should reach 30 thousand. The effect of launching the first projects’ wave will be clearly presented in the next 2-3 years,” Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Chairperson of the Government of the Russian Federation noted.​ 

The selection took place in two stages:

The first stage was carried out from February to April 2022, the results were summed up in July. 620 projects were selected to sign contracts with their authors.

The second stage took place from May to July 2022, the results were summed up in October. 380 projects were selected to sign contracts with their authors.

In total, 1,000 student startups were selected this year.

The projects are focused on the creation of new devices, intellectual, industrial, chemical, digital and biotechnologies, and are also represented in the field of medicine, resource-saving energy and creative industries.​

“The Platform of University Technological Entrepreneurship federal project covers a wide range of activities to support students seeking to start their own business. In addition to acceleration programs, the organization of university startup studios and Entrepreneurial Boiling Points, it is important to provide maximum assistance to those students who are ready to turn their idea into a profitable business right now. We received feedback all over the country: the winners of the second selection stage of the Student Startup Competition were representatives of 150 universities from 54 regions of Russia. And this is not just an impulse to the entrepreneurial students’ realization, but also to the regions’ economic development by creating new jobs”, noted Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
