On October 14, 2022, the Omela startup project team performed at the Youth Day of the Russian Energy Week. Philip Ilmukov, Project Team Manager, and a student of the FinU Faculty of Economics and Business  presented a startup project to a wide audience of specialists.

The Omela startup project team-members are working on a product that can predict natural disasters, detect their risks and patterns using neural network algorithms.

At the presentation, the above team once again raised the issue of Russia's natural resources’ value  and the importance of their protection. Apart from analyzing and predicting loss of forests from fires, other important goals and directions of the project development were noted: decarbonization, forecasting the loss of natural resources due to various factors, addressing the challenge of industry digitalization, analyzing and estimating the value of forests.

FinU, in collaboration with Rosbank, has been holding a “Create Your Own Startup" competition for the second year among the FinU students as a part of the Program “Promoting the Development of Startups and FinU students’ entrepreneurship, including those with disabilities, socially vulnerable groups (orphans)”. In 2022, 7 project teams, which received grants for the creation of startups, and still keep on actively working on their products, became finalists of the competition. The results of the competition will be announced in November 2022. The main coordinator of the competition is the Directorate of Career Development, Work with Alumni and Partners.
