September 20, 2022 marked the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the MFI Military Department.
The celebration event on this occasion took place at the FinU on September 23, 2022, it was attended by about one and a half hundred faculty, staff and alumni of the Department. The participants were warmly and cordially welcomed by Stanislav Prokofiev, FinU Rector, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Honorary Economist of the Russian Federation, his knowledgeable predecessors, Alla Gryaznova and Mikhail Eskindarov, who contributed to the development of the Department.
The report dedicated to the anniversary date and the accomplishments of its alumni was made by Anatoly Artamonov, Head of the FinU Council of Veterans, acting Head of the Department (1999-2000), its alumnus, Major General.
Professor Mikhail Lukashkov, Head of the Economic Management, Accounting and Analytical Activities Department of the Armed Forces (1996-2005), the Department alumnus since 1981, an Honorary Economist of the Russian Federation, wrote a poem dedicated to the Department and its faculty, and recited it, which was enthusiastically accepted by those present.
The greeting of Colonel Alexander Uvarov, professor of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, who graduated from the Department with a gold medal honors in 1995, who worked his way up the career ladder from an adjunct to Head of the leading Department of Armed Forces Finance, was especially pleasant, since Alexander Uvarov is the only alumnus who graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and stayed working for his Alma mater.
It is customary to award those attending the event on the anniversary days. At the request of the Head of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for the organization and military memorial work conducted abroad, particularly, in the Slovak Republic, the medal “In Memory of the Heroes of the Fatherland” was awarded to I.A. Nefedov, an alumnus of 1992 for his active personal participation in restoring more than 1 thousand names of the Red Army soldiers who perished during World War II during the liberation of Slovakia from fascism.
Larisa Vladimirovna, wife of Nikolay Kunts - one of the organizers of the celebration - who worked continuously at the Department as a leading accountant for 26 years and whose jubilee coincided with the anniversary of the Department, on behalf of the Military Council of the Association of the Armed Forces Senior Officers, the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Rosgvardiya of the Russian Federation, was awarded the medal “Officer's Wife”, who was decently accompanying her husband, an officer, for 56 years, having made 13 relocations.
In conclusion, the participants of the event could attend a wonderful concert hosted by the artists of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army, organized by Ivan Chursin, its director, an alumnus of the Department, Honorary Worker of Culture.
The meeting ended with informal networking at the “Finansist” restaurant.
