FinU Hosts Lecture by Minister of Finance of Russia Anton Siluanov

On September 16, 2022, Anton Siluanov, Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, Dean of the FinU Faculty of Finance, Doctor of Economics, delivered a lecture for students, teachers and faculty of the University. The topic of the meeting, which was attended by more than 1,500 people, was sustainable development in new conditions.

Head of the Ministry of Finance was welcomed by Stanislav Prokofiev, FinU Rector, noting that the department is always at the forefront of solving the most important socio-economic problems.

During the lecture, Anton Siluanov spoke about modern challenges to the economy and methods of solving them, noting that the current situation requires a non-standard approach and the ability to predict the course of events.

In his speech, the Minister of Finance emphasized that the financial system is a basis for the macroeconomic situation stability in the state. Anton Siluanov also drew the audience’s attention to the importance of preventive measures to preserve financial stability and security. Among the significant tools in this area, the Head of the Ministry of Finance called the budget rule and a balanced budget. Anton Siluanov also noted the importance of supporting entrepreneurship, creating appropriate infrastructure and developing the financial market.

Summing up, the Russian Minister of Finance stressed the importance of mobilizing sources for economic development.

After the lecture, the participants of the meeting were able to personally ask the Head of the Russian Ministry of Finance exciting questions. The guests and students were particularly interested in the development of tools to support student startups and non-profit organizations, the functioning specifics of insurance and savings instruments, measures to support unqualified investors in the financial market.

Also during the meeting, Anton Siluanov visited the VR Technology Center of the FinU – an innovative platform for the introduction of virtual reality technologies in education and the laboratory of experimental psychology.

At the end, the Minister of Finance presented departmental awards to Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the FinU, Alla Gryaznova, Honorary President of the FinU, Mikhail Ekindarov, President of the FinU, Elena Markina, Vice-Rector of the FinU, Svetlana Solyannikova, Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the University, Margarita Vasyunina, Head of the Department of Public Finance and the FinU faculty.
