On September 7, 2022, the youth conference “Public Finance and Financial Markets: Challenges of the Present and a Model of the Future” started at the FinU. The event is timed to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation and is held as part of the youth program of the VI Moscow Financial Forum.

The conference participants were welcomed and congratulated on the upcoming anniversary of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation by Deputy Minister of Finance of Russia Mikhail Kotyukov. He emphasized that the program of the Youth Day reflects the Moscow Financial Forum-2022 agenda and is being held at the FinU for the first time.  

“I hope that the teams, with the support of experts and moderators, will be able to formulate interesting proposals, the brightest of which can be included in the draft program for the development of the state financial system.  On the final day of the conference – September 9 – the participants will have a unique opportunity to present their ideas and projects to the Minister of Finance of Russia Anton Siluanov. I wish you all fruitful work,” Mikhail Kotyukov said. 

In turn, Stanislav Prokofiev, FinU Rector expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation for the opportunity to conduct an experimental youth program Moscow Financial Forum-2022 at the FinU and noted the conference agenda diversity. “I urge all participants to be proactive and creative. We are waiting for fresh ideas and interesting proposals from you,” Stanislav Prokofiev told the students.

During the discussion platform, participants – more than 100 students and postgraduates from 7 leading economic universities of the country – together with experts will develop proposals to improve the efficiency of public finance and federal property management for the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation. Seven thematic teams will work on projects on various professional tracks. The participants will discuss the issues of adapting the tax system to modern challenges, the efficiency of budget expenditures, the sustainability of the Russian economy, digital transformations of public finances, inter-budgetary relations, federal property management and investments.

The work of students during the day will be supervised by experts – FinU faculty and young specialists of the Ministry of Finance of Russia, the Federal Tax Service, Roskazna and Rosimushchestvo.  The developed projects will be presented to the jury as part of an intellectual hackathon that completes the work of the first conference day. The best of them will be selected for presentation to the Minister of Finance of Russia Anton Siluanov on the final day of the site.

The conference will also include an exhibition at the State Historical Museum dedicated to the 220th anniversary of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.
