On August 31, 2022, an online discussion on the topic “The Future Begins Tomorrow. Plans, Expectations, Experiments in the New Academic Year” was held on the Urait Educational Platform. It was attended by Ekaterina Kameneva, Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodological Work of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Economics, Professor; Executive Director of the IАFЕЕI.

​At the beginning of the discussion, the speaker told what the key factors of change in universities in the new academic year are: “The change in geopolitics has affected everyone: the shift in the focus of universities’ international activities to the CIS, BRICS, Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Latin America. This has affected the extent and formats of interaction with international partners, educational and methodological support, platform solutions, and, of course, the portfolio of educational programs.”

The speaker also spoke about the new accreditation rules and how universities are preparing for it: “This year, new accreditation rules for universities have been implemented. Now a new system of presenting information on the organizations’ websites has begun to be built, funds of evaluation funds are being processed in the direction of diagnosing the students’ training level.”

The expert shared whether the goals of the university’s development programs, strategy, and mission are changing: “Our University Development Program has established high indicators for joint programs with foreign partner universities, foreign faculty. These indicators will not be fully met: many options are now suspended, the number of foreign teachers will also decrease for objective reasons.”

At the end of the discussion, the speaker congratulated her colleagues on the upcoming academic year: “I would like to wish us all not to go completely online. Let’s communicate more and more with each other, make friends and solve our problems together.”
