On May 26, 2022, the unique AXELOT LAB digital logistics laboratory, created jointly with the Russian company AXELOT, which specializes in supply chain management automation, started working at the FinU.

The creation of a new technological training platform at the FinU will help students learn more about the specifics of logistics processes’ automation and get to know modern specialized systems: AXELOT developed the most popular automated warehouse and transportation management systems in Russia.

Stanislav Prokofiev, the FinU Rector delivered a speech opening a  new location.

“Today, on the basis of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, we are opening a new practice-oriented laboratory, developed jointly with one of the Russian market leaders in the field of logistics. It is important that the laboratory is equipped with domestic software related to the automation of logistics transport chains, which is used not only in our country, but also abroad. This is an example of a socially oriented company that is developing and thinking about the future,” said Rector.

In his welcoming speech, Rector Prokofiev emphasized the importance of practice-oriented approaches to training: “Modern logistics is a very complex system that uses both economic and mathematical modeling and IT systems, a combination of these areas can be modeled in the work of our laboratory, and this is very important for our faculty and students who can pass the training system, which in the future will significantly affect their demand in the labour market.”

Rector Prokofiev also noted the contribution of Head of the Logistics and Marketing Department of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Frank-Detlef Wende, who was one of the main ideologists of a new laboratory development.

“This is a unique project that will allow the University to significantly improve the quality of new specialists’ training . Direct cooperation with a specialized software developer and equipment supplier represented by AXELOT allowed us to get the most up-to-date system versions, all the necessary equipment and, most importantly, valuable practical experience for teaching students,” said Frank-Detlef Wende.

In turn, AXELOT CEO Alexey Timashov expressed gratitude to the FinU administration for the opportunity to implement joint projects. He also stressed the importance of cooperation for the dynamic industry development.

“Our company is at the forefront in the implementation of innovative solutions in the field of supply chain automation. We understand how specialized knowledge is in demand and one of our tasks is to contribute to a general increase in the industry knowledge level. The start of AXELOT LAB is a logical and relevant stage,” said Alexey Timashov.

AXELOT LAB “Digital Technologies in Logistics” is developed for scientific research and practice of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. Classes will be held by FinU faculty who have completed preliminary training and internship on active projects on warehouse and transportation management automation .

The training course at AXELOT LAB is taught for two semesters, and according to its results, students will receive knowledge and skills corresponding to the level of intern training at AXELOT.

On the basis of the new laboratory, it is planned to hold specialized workshops for students and FinU guests, implement applied and scientific student projects, as well as organize interuniversity events.
