On April 10, 2022, FinU foreign students visited the Moscow Planetarium. The tour was organized by the International Students and Faculty Department. The event was devoted to Cosmonautics Day.

As part of the tour, FinU foreign students visited the Urania Museum and watched a full-dome show with projection to  the Planetarium spherical roof in the Big Star Hall.

The museum’s  first level is dedicated to the Planetarium history where you can see and listen to the lecture on how  the Universe cognition process developed through the tools and methods. Also, here you can see the Astronomer-Stargazer, surrounded by old books, engravings, tools – everything that is necessary for studying science. In the section devoted to the Planetarium history there are many photographs, documents, books, and equipment items that clearly demonstrate events and facts from the history of the Moscow Planetarium from 1929 up to now. The students listened to a lecture about the history of Astronomy and the main constellations, saw the first models of starry sky projectors and models of spacecraft.

On the second level of the Urania Museum, you immerse yourself in the world of heavenly bodies where you can see globes of the Earth, Moon, Mars and Venus, our closest neighbors in Space. Each planet is unique in its own way. A deserted, silent Moon with dark seas, light continents and craters of various sizes. Red mysterious Mars with giant volcanoes, polar caps and endless labyrinths. Here the guides told the students about the solar system, elaborating on the description of various planets and asteroids.

After the tour of the Urania Museum, the students attended a full-dome show in the Big Star Hall. The Planetarium dome turned into the night sky and the students saw a performance about the spring constellations, the reasons for the Earth rotation and the planets’ movements.

The tour was attended by 30 foreign students from 20 countries, including: Abkhazia, Afghanistan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Bolivia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Italy, Kirghisia, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, Transnistria, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Montenegro.

Throughout the tour, the students showed their interest and asked questions to the guides, afterwards they thanked the guides and the Department for the visit to the Moscow Planetarium.
