On April 1, 2022, an International Round Table “Russians Abroad. The Return of Forgotten Names: E.N. Yakovlev (1885-1934)” was held at the Financial University. The round table was devoted to the contribution of Russian emigration to the development of world science and culture.
 
The meeting was organized by the Department of Humanities of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Mass Communications and the House of Russian Abroad named after Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
 
One of the main tasks within the framework of the round table was to popularize the heritage of Yevgeny Nikandrovich Yakovlev – a representative of the “First Wave” of emigration, archaeologist and ethno-neurologist, who left a vivid mark in the archaeology of Peru.
 
The event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to the Russian Federation Juan Genaro Del Campo Rodriguez. He opened the meeting with a detailed report on the importance of E.N. Yakovlev’s scientific heritage for the Republic of Peru:
“Thanks to his great talent and brilliant erudition, E.N. Yakovlev left the brightest mark in science, his publications are relevant and significant today, they continue to be quoted by modern researchers. We respectfully preserve the legacy of the Russian scientist who made a great contribution to the study of Peru’s past.” Mr. Juan Genaro Del Campo Rodriguez stressed the importance of cultural interaction for the rapprochement of countries. Also, within the framework of the event, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru met with the FinU management.
 
As part of the discussion platform, 14 reports were presented in the field of studying the heritage of Russian emigration. The topic of the round table aroused great interest, the participants noted the relevance of the identified issues. Following the results of the round table, further cooperation between the Department of Humanities and the House of Russian Abroad is planned.
