On April 1, 2022, Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to Russia Juan Genaro Del Campo Rodríguez visited the Financial University.

During the visit, the University administration and Ambassador held a business meeting, the agenda of which included issues related to the development of cooperation in the field of science and education, strengthening cooperation between the countries, as well as issues of training and adaptation of students from Peru coming to study in Russia.

Ambassador stressed the importance of cultural interaction for the rapprochement of the countries and expressed readiness to support the development of Russian-Peruvian cooperation.

“We are interested in increasing the number of students from Peru studying in Russia. In return we are ready to provide support and work out an optimal strategy of cooperation,” said Juan Genaro Del Campo Rodríguez.

In turn, Vice-Rector of the Financial University Elena Markina informed the guest of the academic and extracurricular opportunities of the University offered to foreign students, and Head of the International Cooperation Department Liliya Prikhodko noted the University’s readiness to develop educational, scientific and research ties with Peruvian universities.

On the part of the Financial University, Vice-Rector for Social Work and Extracurricular Activities Alexander Kozharinov and Head of the Department of Humanities of the Financial University Natalia Orekhovskaya also took part in the meeting.

The Ambassador delivered a welcoming speech at the international round table “Russians Abroad. The Return of Forgotten Names: Evgeniy N. Yakovlev”, dedicated to the contribution of Russian emigrants to world science and culture development. This event was meant to popularize the scientific and creative heritage of Evgeny N. Yakovlev, a representative of the “First Wave” of emigration, an archaeologist and ethno-ornithologist who left a mark in the archaeology of Peru. The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the discussion and noted the importance of Evgeny Yakovlev’s scientific heritage.

“Due to his great talent and brilliant expertise Evgeny Yakovlev left a footprint in science, his publications are still relevant and significant today, they continue to be quoted by modern researchers. We respectfully preserve the legacy of the Russian scientist who made a great contribution to the study of Peru’s past,” said Juan Genaro Del Campo Rodríguez.

Elena Markina expressed gratitude to Juan Genaro Del Campo Rodríguez for his attention to the scientific conference at the University. During the visit agreements were reached on the development and strengthening of Russian-Peruvian cooperation in the field of education and science.

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador visited the Museum of Finance and left a message in the Guest book of the Financial University.
