On February 22nd, the Ministry of Education and Science together with the Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation and the WEB.RF group began accepting applications from students of Russian universities for a grant of 1 million rubles for the creation of start-ups.

1,000 young students will be able to receive the grant to develop their startups this year.

The selection of projects will be held in seven thematic areas:
Digital technologies;
Medicine and health;
New materials and chemical technologies;
New instruments and production technologies;
Biotechnology;
Resource efficient energy;
Creative industries.
Participation is open to undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students. The grant recipient will have to register a legal entity, develop a business plan, and a startup website.

The first wave of applications will last until April 11, 2022.

The business project can be prepared individually or in a team.

“Today more than half of the students have the desire to start their own business”, shared Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, “It is necessary to give the ambitious younger generation the opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial potential, create conditions for developing their first start-ups and investment promotions. In addition to grants, start-up entrepreneurs will also be able to receive support in the form of an annual academic leave that can be spent on business development.”


As Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko noted, in the future, the number of grant recipients is planned to be increased. The government will allocate 4.5 billion rubles for these purposes until 2024.
