On 28 February 2011 Mr Hugo Jose Garsia Hernandes, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, visited the Financial University. The Ambassador was accompanied by Marco Antonio Jil Casanova, General Director of the Simon Bolivar Latin American Cultural Center, Counselor of the Embassy, and Ruben Dario Gutierres, Second Secretary of the Embassy.
The Ambassador had a meeting with Prof. M. Eskindarov, Rector of the Financial University. M. Fedotova, Pro-rector for Research, V. Sumarokov, Pro-rector, Dean of the International Economics Faculty, V. Dumny, Director of the Center for International Educational and Research Cooperation, A. Ilyinsky, Dean of the International Finance Faculty, S. Bezhanova, Dean of the International Students Faculty, O. Ryabova, Advisor to the Rector, K. Kovnat, Head of the Department of International Educational Activities, took part in the meeting.
Prof. M. Eskindarov expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for his visit to the Financial University and readiness to deliver lecture to students and faculty members.
The Ambassador expressed his appreciation of the qualified work of the Financial University and noted that the very atmosphere of the University is close to him and reminds of the time when he was a professor himself. Among the issues discussed at the meeting was the possibility of establishing contacts with educational and research institutions of Venezuela including training Venezuelan students at the International Finance Faculty. The Ambassador expressed interest in setting up professional development courses for the staff of the joint Russian-Venezuelan bank. The parties expressed mutual opinion that cooperation between the Financial University and the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has good prospects as well as further cooperation between the Financial University and universities of Venezuela.
Guests visited the Financial University Museum and library. The Ambassador presented books translated and published through sponsorship of the Venezuelan Embassy in Russia as his gift to the library:

After that in the meeting hall of the Academic Council Mr Hugo Jose Garsia Hernandes, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, delivered a lecture “Political and Economic Aspects of Development of Venezuela” accompanied by a film “Meeting Venezuela”. The lecture aroused live interest among the students and professors of the Financial University. After the lecture the Ambassador was asked many questions, predominantly in Spanish. Mr Hernandez gave exhaustive answers to all of them.
Mr Ambassador expressed deep gratitude to the Rector of the Financial University for warm welcome and said that he was sure that contacts established during his visit to the Financial University will be promoted further.
