The Financial University is 92 years old

The Federal State-Funded Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "The Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation" (hereinafter the Financial University) is one of the oldest Russian institutions of higher education training economists, financiers and legal experts in finance law.

Among the University graduates are V. Pavlov, the USSR Prime Minister, А. Zverev, I. Fadeyev, I. Lazarev, V. Panskov, B. Fedorov, the USSR and the Russian Federation Ministers of Finance, N. Sokolov, N. Garetovsky, V.Gerashenko, the former Heads of the USSR and the Russian Federation Central Bank, A. Khloponin, Deputy Prime Minister of the RF, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy in the North Caucasian Federal District, E. Panina and N. Maksimova, Deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the RF, A. Borodin, President of the Bank of Moscow, V. Dmitriev, Chairman of the State Corporation "Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)", M. Phokhorov, President of Oneksim Group, A. Siluanov, Deputy Minister of Finance of the RF, V. Chistova, Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Moscow Financial Department, and many others.

The University made a way from an institute and an academy specializing in training experts for financial and banking sector to a big educational and research complex including 15 faculties, 50 chairs, 4 institutes, 2 high schools, 3 scientific research institutes, 9 centers, 3 educational and research laboratories, a network of regional branches - 11 affiliates and 4 representative offices in seven Russian regions.

Annually the University trains about 23000 students, including 12000 degree students (Bachelor- Specialist - Master), about 10000 secondary vocational education students, more than 300 MBA students and up to 20000 professional development education and retraining students..

The Financial University is one of the leading universities in the country. It provides 8 main higher education programs, 7 Bachelor programs, 7 Master's programs and 6 main secondary vocational education programs, as well as 10 MBA programs and 108 skill development and professional retraining programs.

In 2010 more than 2000 graduates got higher education degrees and more than 3000 people got secondary vocational education diplomas.

High level of professional training, wide employment possibilities and carrier development after graduation from the Financial University determine rather high completion among applicants. In 2009 it was 8 people for each place.

The Financial University has established and develops the educational structure based on continuous multilevel education concept (secondary education (specialist) - Bachelor - higher education (specialist) - Master) including different forms and trends of training.

High professional level of the faculty members is the foundation of the generally recognized quality of University's programs. Degree programs ate taught by 895 professors, including 207 Doctors of Science, Professors and 530 PhDs, Associate Professors. The University has 669 full-time professors, including 132 Doctors of Science and 420 PhDs. Besides professors there are 1450 people carrying out other functions.. Thus the total number of the Financial University staff (full-time) is over 2100 people

Secondary education vocational programs in colleges are taught by 520 professors, including 1 Doctor of Science, 47 PhDs, 221 high category professors, 75 first category professors and 73 second category professors.

Annually more than 40% of the Financial University and colleges faculty members take professional development courses.

The Financial University was the first Russian university to set up and register an Endowment fund. Presently it accumulates more than 200 million rubles.

Developed at the University innovative educational program "Creation of Innovative Educational System for Training Financiers - Leaders of Competitive Economy" became a powerful impetus for the University's development.

The Financial University has developed third generation Federal State Educational Standards in Economics, Finance and Credit, Accounting and Audit, World Economy and International Business, Taxes and Taxation.

The Financial University introduces new educational technologies and is transferring to formation of individual educational trajectories for students. Competence approach to training specialists is being introduced in educational process.

The Financial University has undergone a number of structural reforms aimed at raising the quality of educational process. Namely, lately it established 14 new chairs, Faculty of Law and Political Science, International Finance Faculty, Faculty of Management and Sociology, Faculty of Mathematical Methods and Risk Analysis, Faculty of Pre-university and Supplementary Training, Institute for Finance and Economic Studies incorporating 6 research centers (Center for International Economic Relations Studies, Center for Problems of Economic Development Studies, Center for Financial Studies, Center for Taxation Studies, Center for Monetary Studies, Information and Analytical Center), Institute of Economics and Finance of Education, Institute for Legal Studies and Innovations, Center for Research and Prospective Developments, Consulting Center, the Financial University's Scientific Research Fund.

Undertaken structural reforms of the University's divisions were aimed at creation of single information environment of the Financial University and adequate information and technological support of educational and research processes and in-house logistics.

The Financial University has a Certificate of quality system management stating that its quality management system was audited and found compatible to ISO 9001:2008 with regard to development and implementation of degree, postgraduate and supplementary professional education programs and scientific research activities.
